Self-care through saying NO

I am finding more and more that as a society we are struggling with the guilt attached to saying no and setting healthy boundaries for ourselves.


Whether in business or in your personal relationships it is ok to say no to tasks and activities that do not fit you right now. You need to decide what you want to do and if you have time in your schedule to do it.



Here are some helpful phrases for saying ‘NO”


  • I really appreciate you asking me/thinking of me, but I can’t do it.

  • I’m not able to commit to that right now.

  • I can’t give you an answer right now, will you check with me later?

  • I’m going to say no for now but I will let you know if something changes.

  • I just do not have the time to give right now.




Remember that it’s Ok to say no if you don’t want to do something, you are already overscheduled or it does not make you happy.
