Three Lessons From #PressforProgress

Author: Leanne Ballard

March 7, 2018

I was lucky enough to attend an evening last night to celebrate #IWD2018y and #PressforProgress

This evening at our local Small Business Centre featured 6 women who has achieved inspiring levels of success and were willing to share their stories.

Although the evening was filled with great examples for women to #PressforProgress and strive for improvement here are the top three takeaways that I want to share from last night.

Lesson number one, make sure you have the right tools to #PressforProgress. Often we can find solutions to challenges as we face them but we may grab the first tool or idea that we come up with. This may not be the most efficient way to handle the challenge but we use what is available to us. Just remember that by looking at the challenge from a different angle to may be able to find a tool that might not only help you face the challenge but can elimate the challenge altogether allowing you to be more efficient overall. Make sure you have the right tool.

Lesson number two, collaboration is the foundation upon which #PressforProgress can grow. This one is simple. When we collaborate we can achieve more. We need to work together and join our voices and from there we can encourage change.

Lesson number three, be the example. Without strong women leading the way #Pressforprogress will never succeed. Create an example for the younger generation watching. In order for the next generation to step up and #PressforProgress they need to see you sharing your voice. They need to see you campaigning for change and lobbying to those who can help us enact change. The youth are not only our future but also our present and we need them to make sure that the voice of #PressforProgress does not fade.

As we sit here in 2018 we have so much to be grateful for. We have so many more rights and freedoms then our ancestors. Yet the fight for Progress is far from done. Make sure that you make every day count, your voice and presence is important to all who come through your life. Carry on and leave your imprint on this world.
